The Last A-Frame EVER! For 2018

The final a-frames of 2018 for Gimme! Coffee have arrived! If you're going to call a special holiday blend, "Sleigher" I'm obviously going to respond with an appropriation of the classic Slayer logo. It would be shocking if I didn't. Some other holiday gift hustling on the flipside.

And in other news: I have put the neon cat prints on MY WEBSITE. Thanks again to everyone who came out to the holiday fair last week and purchased something from me. All remaining prints are up on the site. If any orders are placed between now and Christmas they will arrive after the holidays. Just a heads up.

Soul Clap & Dance-Off with The Black Lips

2018 is coming to a close and Jonathan Toubin is throwing a Soul Clap & Dance-Off holiday party of grand proportions! The Black Lips are headlining the night and are being supported by two great NYC garage bands, Gnarccisists and The Advertisers. I used a pretty minimal palette on this piece and I really enjoy the final outcome. I'm such a broken record about this but I really try to practice restraint, as hard as it is for me, and I was pleasantly surprised how it worked out. I love all those old illustrated jazz albums covers of the 50's but I go too crazy to ever learn any lessons from them. Anyways, the show kicks off at 8PM, SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15TH at ELSEWHERE. Git yer tix HERE!

Howlin Wolf

Recent commissioned portrait of blues singer, Howlin Wolf. I had done a drawing of Howlin Wolf as a birthday gift for my friend(see below) and after he posted it on instagram people were asking left and right for prints of it. I decided that I couldn't make prints out of a friends gift, kinda kills the sentimentality, so I agreed on working up a different version for someone else I know. I've always been a big fan of Howlin Wolf so sitting around and listening to his music while I draw him numerous times is no problem for me. And, in case you've been depriving yourself of this man's music, here's a little taster right HERE!

Nick Waterhouse/Soul Clap & Dance-Off

New one for the late night Nick Waterhouse and Jonathan Toubin Brooklyn Steel after party/Soul Clap & Dance-Off. I had originally planned on doing a Hanna Barbera inspired title card color way for the background but opted for a worn out record sleeve look, which I think fits Nick's aesthetic better. Party goes down on November 17th from 11:30PM - 4AM at Brooklyn Bazaar!

"Call me Snake"

I think for the last 5 years I've been meaning to do this and I think a lot of people wanted me to do it purely based off the fact I made a choking poster based off Escape From New York. Well, here it is! I finally went and done did it and went full Snake Plissken all over Halloween's ass. Even whipped up some homemade shin guards and Snake's wrist watch counting down how much time he has until the microscopic capsules burst inside the arteries in his neck.

Took it on down to Jonathan Toubin's Haunted Hop at the Knockdown Center and shot about 5 pictures the whole night! The 3 below are Death Valley Girls, Hank Wood and The Hammerheads, who put on an amazing show, and the man of the hour, Roky Erickson!

Haunted Hop: Version 2

Haunted Brown

Another Halloween is approaching and you know that means the Haunted Brown Latte Throwdown is upon us. My good bud, Trey, the great coffee slinger, film-maker, father of the century, and super inspiring human hit me up for a quick poster to promote his great event. We wanted to take a little inspiration from Evil Dead for this one but after a couple sketches we decided to make it not so obvious. Check out the link----> COFFEE COFFEE COFFEE for all the details and keep those evil saxophones blasting into the night!

Beak Glass

One of my good buddies from the motherland of Corning, NY who now lives way up yonder in Portland, Maine hit me up recently about needing an illustration to slap on t-shirts and stickers for his glass blowing studio and you know I'm always there for a friend. After we decided on a sweet art trade, it was on! Dave now has this illustration and I am the proud owner of some magical glass blown pipe wizardry. Check out Dave's amazing glass work and then check out them process pics below.

We decided after this first round that, even though Dave loves all the crazy metal band fonts, his work doesn't really scream METAL! More psychedelic weirdness, so we started on a new approach incorporating Dave's nickname/studio name and some drippy honeycomb patterning. We still kept a small bit of that scratchy/veiny lettering in the end.

New Gimme! Coffee A-Frames!

Some brand new a-frames for Gimme! Coffee in Williamsburg. There's a new mega fridge in the shop, full of fancy juices, matcha, kombucha, and 'gurt and I couldn't help but think of the monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey when I first saw it.

It's October so I might as well use this month to give some nods to my favorite horror films and we're kicking it off with a salute to Dario Argento's neon witchy ballet flick, Suspiria. I did an homage to the creators of the films soundtrack, Goblin, a few years back so I dug that photo out as a nice companion piece. I really think I've made a valiant effort at getting better photos of these signs over the years. I mean, just look at that little thumb blur, distracting background, and slightly out of focus look on the Goblin pic. Someone was definitely not givin' 2 shits.
